Richard Adkerson
American business executive
Richard C. Adkerson is an American business executive who currently serves as Chairman of the Board at Freeport-McMoRan.[1] He was the chief executive officer (CEO) of Freeport from 2003 until June 2024 and has been a member of its board since 2006, taking on the role of chairman in February 2021.[2][3]
Education
Adkerson earned a bachelor's degree in accounting with the highest honors in 1969 and an MBA in 1970, both from Mississippi State University.
He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1988 and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science from Mississippi State in 2010.[4]
Adkerson was named National Alumnus of the Year of Mississippi State University in 2011 and The Richard C.
Adkerson School of Accountancy is named in his honor.[5][6]
